If you are a photographer and haven't taken part in a workshop yet, what are you waiting for?! These images were taken at my second workshop that I've done in 2019 and it was such a fantastic experience. I learned so much, made amazing connections and created the perfect portfolio images!
Curated Collection, which is now named The Content Playground, is an awesome workshop put together by 2 pretty cool ladies. Jess and Kendra did an AWESOME job! I've done 2 of their workshops, and each one has taught me so many things!
This workshop took place at the Art Gallery of Hamilton. I've never actually been there before so I was super excited to explore a new venue and see what these ladies had in store for us!
The day began with a learning portion. We chatted about how to send in your work for publishing, how to manage clients, and all that other fun business stuff. After lunch, (which was delicious!!), we started the fun part! The shooting!
The large space was divided into a few different sections. The theme revolved around the Art Gallery of Hamilton's vibe. It was colourful and creative, with a very modern flair. I had a lovely 'partner' for the day, and we started out at the tablescape! It. Was. STUNNING! The tablescape was set up by Simply Beautiful Decor, chairs were from Chair-man Mills, and the stationary was done by Red Bicycle Paper Co. The colours, the insane floral pieces by Blooms and Flora, the incredible dinnerware... I was mesmerized. It also made for a beautiful spot for portraits as well.
Next we moved on to the dessert set up. My oh my, this was something from my dreams!!! Scintillate Events created such a fabulous display. Cotton candy cloud, handmade lollipops, and a donut wall captured my heart. It is SO fun photographing cute details like this. Future clients.. if you have a kickass dessert bar, please email me ASAP because my sweet tooth is aching to be a part of this again!
Details, details, details. I always struggle with this part of a wedding. Not because I don't know how to do it, but because I am SO picky and I am never satisfied with how it all flows. I did just upgrade my styling kit though and I cannot wait to try some new ideas at my upcoming weddings! Emily Gill Designs provided the beautiful rings, Red Bicycle Paper Co rocked the stationary, letterpress done by Hubbub Paper Co, and florals from Blooms and Flora.
My favourite part is next. Mersey Cross is a mobile bar setup and they created the most awesome display for us. Talk about a bar from Pinterest! The entire set up is something you only think you will see online. Bu nope, they made it real! Best part? Actually getting to photograph someone pouring a nice Old Fashioned.
Everything about this experience was absolutely incredible. The Art Gallery of Hamilton was a beautiful venue space and I would love to photograph here again. I loved getting to meet other photographers in the area, learning how to create my ideal portfolio, and having a blast. I can't wait until my next workshop!
